Technology
can and does have a great impact on online learning. Technology can impact
online learners by adding great resources to enhance their academic success. Technology
allows the less traditional and working students a chance to further their
education and still maintain a better quality of life.
Online
instructors must incorporate a clear and concise understanding of what is expected
of each student. This can be done by making sure all information and
expectations are given in a timely manner, in order that students can prepare
and monitor their time as needed.
Adults
are able to access information at any time, which makes obtaining a quality
education is easier to obtain. Students are able to interact with a diverse
number of students through technology. Online teaching will allow students to
interact in a group setting without having to talk over others as in a traditional
classroom setting.
Blogging
is a technology I would use, because it allows the students the ability to
interact with a wide array of diverse students. Some students are able to be
more expressive through their writing. Blogging would allow them to express
themselves to others.
Dotsy,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to give you some more info regarding blogging in an online course. I got the below tips from Sarah Lohnes at Columbia University. She said the following are “necessary ingredients” for creating effective class blogs:
1. Blog posts should be original, “well-crafted,” “well- informed”.
2. There should be an authentic purpose for maintaining the blog.
3. A blog should offer a window into the author’s identity and community affiliations.
4. A blog should take advantage of the medium to offer a sense of immediacy and intimacy.
I thought you’d enjoy these “ingredients” she endorses for class blogs.
Best,
Rob
