week 4 assignment: Multimedia Resources

Podcast is a digital audio file that is made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device.

I learn that this device will allow the students the ability to hear and see real life settings. Some students are auditory learners and this will be a great way to enhance their learning experience.

The only concern would be making sure students use discretion on the material that would be shared with the community. Some student may decide to become too graphic with personal information.

Digital Puzzle Builder is a custom word search crossword puzzle activity that can be printed, or shared with students using URL or assignment code.

I learned that this device will be utilized to increase the student’s vocabulary and enhance their writing and reading skills.

My only concern is the cost for the student.

  1. You make a great point about making sure that students and instructors remain professional regardless of the type of instruction or multimedia technologies bring used. Through the sharing of background information and relevant experiences, we can all learn a great deal. The diversity of instructors and classmates is of great value, especially in the online environment, where we have the opportunity to interact with people from literally all over the world. There is a time and place for students who want to get to know each other on a more personal level, and these community spaces should be provided for students. This allows them to feel less isolated and more a part of an educational community. It is necessary that students and instructors remember, however, that we are still strangers and it is important to monitor what we post and say online. This is a professional learning environment and we all need to make sure that we consider the potential consequences of our posts over various multimedia outlets to ensure that we are not oversharing or possibly offending others.

  2. Dotsy,
We could also allow students to create their own podcast, perhaps including questions for their classmates, drive discussions, and enhance presentations or projects. These can then be made available to their classmates. This allows online students to take control of an aspect of their education and it will encourage invested engagement in the material. They can question, they can contribute, and they can teach each other. Very valuable.
    Nice post on Podcasting!
